.
I don't know what your dreams are like, but the only one's that really seem to have any impact on me are the hyper-realistic one's, the sort that, when you wake up it can take a few minutes to fully convince yourself you are in fact awake. Unfortunately for me, those amazingly realistic slices of the sub-conscious mind are, in my case, the most banal, run of the mill (more boring than a boring thing on St. Boringness Day!!!) dreams that really stick with me when I wake up!
Except for today that is.
Like most mornings, I tend to wake up with Jo sat beside me either watching the previous day's episode of TV quiz "The Chase" on Catch-up or she is waiting for Channel Four to broadcast the lastest episode of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' (I do, Jo doesn't!) for the two hundredth time.
But not today gentle reader, oh no.
Today I awoke to find that the marriage I thought to be more solid than the actual rock that that particular metaphor was first written about, was seemingly as solid as a breath of fresh air!
I found a rather sorry looking piece of scrap paper pinned to her pillow with the word "Sorry" written on it in big black marker pen. I wouldn't have normally been overly alarmed about it except this particular note came with her wedding ring attached!!
In a mild panic I began called her name but there was no reply, so after a small pause in which to gather my thoughts (I got up on auto-pilot and fed the cats), I then sat down with a hot cup of tea (isn't that what you give people in shock??) and began to try and piece together exactly what had caused this most sudden of departures.
Recently she had been talking wistfully about 'the good old days' and I wondered if she was hankering for the past. Things have been really hard for her since her hip went and she was sacked from work.
When we first met each other, we were both working at a holiday camp as part of their entertainment troupe. Jo used to call the bingo and she sang and danced. I was just what they used to call 'an all-rounder' (a Bruce Forsythe type if you like - aIthough personally speaking, I can not stand the whizzened old husk of a man!) i.e. I used to fill in when anyone called in sick!
After doing this for a couple of years, we ended up giving our own double act a try (a bit like vaudeville). We used to dress up as two Chinese laundry workers and we did a song and dance routine to a ditty from the film 'Thoroughly Modern Millie', it had to be seen to be believed...
...and then I woke up!! Now didn't I tell you it would be vivid, didn't I?
So, on to today's card and the influence of watching Superman has clearly rubbed off. I have used a Kenny K image (not called Superman but you get the idea!) and some of my old Sizzix alpha's which I always go back to time and time again. The birds in the background are from a mask, used on a sheet of Basic Grey (I think the collection is called What's Up). I finished it off with the Little Claire rosette and the Memory Box hearts.
Hope you like it,
I will return soon,
Hugs 'n Stuff
Andy

Oh my goodness Andy, Aren't dreams odd?! Was reading yours with my heart in my mouth lol until the end!! I have the weirdest dreams & they're a source of great amusement to my friends...until they feature! Last night I was homeless in America, think I'll have to see what the meaning of that is. Anyway enough rambling from me, your card is fantastic. Have a great day x
ReplyDeletewhat a cool card andy! It would be fab for a little boy to get coming into the world! xx
ReplyDeleteSuper card Andy, love the birds too, thanks for joining us at Crafty Sentiments this week. Jac x
ReplyDeleteOk Andy - you scared the bajeebies out of me! That ring pinned to the pillow was too realistic for words.
ReplyDeleteI like your coloring skills Andy - your shadows and highlights are very nicely done! And I too was thinking this makes a lovely baby boy announcement. I am delighted you entered your project in the “In the Garden” Challenge - good luck!

I am so sorry Andy - I made a mistake above - I need to welcome you to the "Red, White and Blue" Challenge at Craft Your Passion - not "In the Garden". You are in the right place!

Now you have me totally confused Andy. Were you and Jo really on the stage or was that part of the dream?
ReplyDeleteI often have vivid dreams too. My best one being winning the lottery. When I woke up I wasn't sure if I had or not... was really disappointed when I realised it was just a dream.
My worst one was when I was taking Zyban to try to stop smoking. I had the devil in a lift in the corner of my bedroom. Kept waking up but then going back into the dream when I fell asleep. That was the last time I took Zyban :)
Onto todays unusual baby card. Unusual image to use but it does certainly work. Perfect colouring and love the background and design you have created.
Sweet dreams :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully made red, white and blue card!! Great coloring of superman. Thanks for joining the ODBD Shining the Light challenge this week!!
ReplyDeleteA great card but don't do that to the readers again! I had a tissue out and was going oh,no.......and then you woke up! (Didn't really have a tissue but was started to feel really bad for you) LOL - perhaps you should be writing scripts for a cartoon book using KK's stamps!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card! Love the image and coloring! The background papers are perfect! Thanks for sharing with us at Crafty Sentiments!

Blinkin-heck Andy ..my heart was in my mouth at the beginning thinking oh no how awful...then the end ! Dont you just love dreams...they are so weird and wonderful ...always said I was going to keep a dream diary like I used to do when I was a young girl...but then it felt like too much effort!!!!

Fantastic Red white and blue card! I love your superman. Thank you for sharing with TTCRD this week.
ReplyDeletewhat a dream!! gosh i wouldn't like to make such a dream!! but i'd loooove to see you as a chinese laundry worker !!! i'm sure you have pictures come on !! XD
ReplyDeleteit's a strange coincidence your post because this morning i woke up all panicky cause i had dreamt a t rex was attacking my house, my husband was trying to dig an escape tunnel with a pickaxe and all i found to say was: "oh my god you're going to ruin the tiles! remember we're selling the house, it's got to look perfect!"
dreaming is such a parallel reality...
remember what shakespeare said "we are such stuff..." maybe he was right and when we die we step back into that reality
anyway i looove your card, i find it funny and lively excellent idea for a baby's arrival !!
thanks for sharing at love to scrap! challenge blog
